Lídia Masllorens *1967 Girona
The Catalan artist Lídia Masllorens graduated from the University of Barcelona with a degree in painting. Her works are highly recognizable, especially her large-format facial images, with which she transports us into a world of feelings and details. Expressiveness is the most important thing for her and her direct brushstroke resembles Japanese calligraphy in terms of precision and discipline: in every stroke, the beginning, the direction and the form are important. There is nothing casual about it and yet she succeeds in giving the works a philosophical meaning. She leaves nothing to chance and often replaces the brush with her own hands.
In 2013, she was awarded the Vila Casas Foundation's Art Prize, which opened the doors for her internationally. Her works have been exhibited in Spain, but also in London, Paris, Basel, New York, Miami, Los Angeles and now with us in Cologne.
