Victor Dolz. *1945, Girona
In Victor Dolz's pictures we see old, sick bodies. His way of portraying exposes the character and gives view into the inside of the soul, the misery and the fragility: failed people, dramatic moments, bloodstained looks. Dolz takes a look at the unvarnished truth that society tries to hide. One could place his expressionist painting in the "black tradition" that began in Spain with Goya and has flared up again everywhere with painters like Francis Bacon, Lucian Freud, Chaim Soutine and even Georg Baselitz.
In the 60s, the artist completed his art studies in Barcelona and dedicated himself from 1980 exclusively to painting. His works could already be seen in numerous exhibitions and museums in Spain, but also in Germany.
